As the holiday season approaches, many Baby Boomers and retirees look south for the winter to enjoy the warmer climate and sunny days.

But as reported recently by AARP, these ‘snowbirds’ can be in a vulnerable position when traveling to a new location, as they are often away from their core friends, family and familiar surroundings. And when they’re vulnerable, these Boomers and retirees can be easy picking for scammers.

RetirementHomes.com has previously reported about the top 25 retirement living desginations in the U.S. Now, the Milken Institute, a California-based think tank, has created a narrower list of the top 10 small cities, and top 10 large cities, in the United States, for successful aging, according to a recent article in USA Today.

When it comes to ideal retirement destinations, a lot depends on money and budgeting. If one state or location is too pricey, you can always move to a more affordable spot.
