Celebrate National Grandparents Day this weekend

Celebrate Grandparents Day this weekendGrandparents are very important to a wide range of people across the world, and what they do for their children and grandchildren should be honored and celebrated. Ever since President Jimmy Carter signed a presidential proclamation in 1978 creating National Grandparents Day, the Sunday after Labor Day has done just that.

The U.S. Census Bureau recently released a number of statistics that outline how important grandparents are in many people's lives. For example, there were 7.5 million grandchildren whoreported living with a grandparent in 2010.

There are currently 2.7 million grandparents in the country who serve as caregivers for their grandchildren.

In honor of Grandparents Day, families should ensure that their loved one is in a happy and healthy environment. Retirement living communities or an assisted living facility can be the perfect place for seniors to be around their peers while doing the activities they love. In addition, family caregivers can be at ease knowing that their loved one is under the proper care to ensure that they enjoy their golden years.
