Happily, the owner of The Courtyards, Malcolm Street, has recently expanded his retirement living community, which will allow more space for prospective residents.
The Courtyards opened in 1987. "I wanted a neighborhood," Street told the news source. "I wanted to do senior housing with young professionals, but the market dictated otherwise."
So, he decided to focus on creating a small but profitable retirement living community that would that be fairly priced and offer a variety of services. In 2008, the facilities underwent a $1 million renovation which created a new 26-unit assisted living facility and a 3,000-square-foot-cafe.
According to AllBusiness.com, many retirement living facilities are expected to expand their capacity as the aging baby boomer population creates a greater demand for their services.
