Many Americans kick off their retirement living with a celebratory party

For those who are about to celebrate a friend or co-workers retirement, U.S. News and World Reports recently suggested a few ways to arrive at the party with the perfect retirement gift.


Many active living seniors have a lot of big plans for their retirement.

If your friend or coworker has a hobby or activity that they plan to pursue in their new found free time, the news source suggests picking up something related to their passion.

The news provider also recommends going in on a big group gift, which can cut down on costs and may feel more appropriate for a co-worker.


Of course, it's also recommended that gift-givers check with the retiring party's spouse, to avoid duplicate gifts. And when in doubt, a heartfelt card will be appreciated and show them how much you care.


Because the current economy has caused a shift in many baby boomers' retirement planning, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that 8 in 10 seniors expect to work part time during the early stages of their retirement.
