Couple celebrates 70th anniversary together in a retirement living community

Roy and Marcia Zahrobsky, a couple who recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary, married in Iowa in 1939 and have been together ever since. The devoted pair now lives together in a retirement living community near Anchorage, Alaska, according to the Anchorage Daily News.

And though the couple has enjoyed a long and successful union, they married without much pomp.

The couple still has arguments and even squabble over who is the peacemaker – the paper reports that both Roy and Marcia claim to placate the other when they fight. But, despite their differences, the two eat lunch together every afternoon, and Roy tidies up while Marcia sleeps.

It might be ideal for a married couple to live under the same roof, but many seniors worry that their marriage will suffer if one spouse requires assisted living and the other remains home. However, according to MedicalNewsToday.com, researchers have discovered that couples continue to be a big part of each other's lives even after one of them moves into an assisted care facility.
