According to AARP there are 7 ways to prevent the onset of the disorder. Some of them are commonsense. Number one is a surprise.
1. Enjoy a Cocktail
Many adults in the USA appreciate a cocktail, such as a Mint julep a Tom Collins, a margarita, etc. Then there's beer and wine. AARP writes that women who partake in more than three alcoholic drinks a week lessen the risk of rheumatoid arthritis by about half, according to a study in the British Medical Journal.
2. Cherries
Cherries contain powerful antioxidants with pain-fighting properties than can reduce the risk of gout attack. Gout is a form of inflammatory arthritis that occurs at the base of the big toe.
3. Drop the Soda Kick
Sugary soft drinks can lead to weight gain and a progression of knee osteoarthritis. Men who drink more that five sodas a week are especially susceptible.
4. Reduce Red Meat
Red meat, oily fish and certain vegetables - spinach, mushrooms, beans - can lead to gout flare-ups.
5. Exercise
Healthy weight and regular exercise may prevent arthritis. Exercise bolsters muscles and joints and provides flexibility.
6. Try Alternative Treatments
Acupuncture, tai chi and yoga are considered to be effective treatments for pain caused by certain types of arthritis. It's still a good idea to talk to your doctor before beginning complementary or alternative treatment.

Curry has anti-inflammatory properties that may help ease arthritis pain.
