And while that may be true, a recent survey of middle-aged women commissioned by Nurture Replenish Skincare, a British skincare company, found that respondents thought there are very specific ages when certain appearances are no longer acceptable for women.
As reported by Yahoo! News, the survey asked 2,000 women between the ages of 45 and 59, and discovered that the following modes of dress went out of date at certain ages:
- No fake tans after the age of 40
- No miniskirts and leather pants after 41
- Knee-high boots stop at 45
- No tattoos beyond the mid-50s
Some of the results surprised representatives from Nurture Replenish Skincare.
“We think middle aged is supposed to be later, but women are saying that in the early 40s a lot of things need to be toned down,” a spokeswoman from the company told the news source.
And while respondents saw middle age as starting in the early 40s, nearly three-quarters of the women in the survey said they planned on avoiding major cosmetic changes as they age.
