The massive baby boomer generation is just starting to reach 65 years of age, right on the brisk of retirement, according to society's standards. However, a lot has been changing as these boomers reach their golden years. As they continue their active lifestyles, even the funeral industry is changing, according to California radio station KPCC."In 2005, when I'd meet with a family, they didn't really have an idea of how to plan their first funeral," Pam Vetter, a funeral celebrant in Los Angeles, California, told the news source. "They'd been to funerals, but they didn't have certain things in mind. So we'd sit for hours and listen to stories and develop a service and develop an order of service, with songs and maybe a slide show or something like that, together."
Vetter added that now that is not the case. Families will come in and know exactly what they want, and are also much more vocal than the once were, the media outlet reports.
According to Modern Medicine, there are 77 million Americans that are celebrating their 47th through 65th birthday this year.
