New retirement center in CaliforniaIt was recently announced that there will be a new retirement community opening up in Sonoma County, California, according to the California-based news channel KGO-TV.

This new resort-style neighborhood is created for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. There will be a pool, gardens, quality food and medical care available at a moment's notice, according to the news source.

In addition, the owner of the retirement home, Cindy Gallaher, told the media outlet that they will have an assisted living facility that will contain a memory improvement center for dementia and Alzheimer's care.

This is one of the first developments of its kind and there are already several requests for residencies once it opens, which will be in 18 months. It will include 64 units and six single family homes, the news provider reports.

According to Fox Buisness, the baby boomer generation has changed the idea of retirement living in many ways - including, working until they're older and moving into a community that works with their active lifestyle.
