The nursing home, Bethany Home, will be built in Sioux Falls and could quickly become a valuable resource for many retirees and their families.
Paul VanDeBerg, President of the Brandon Valley Area Chamber of Commerce, told the news provider that the city currently doesn't have a nursing home.
"We looked to the future and said, 'What are people going to be looking for in retirement?'" Dennis Sever, the administrator of Bethany Lutheran Home, explained to the publication.
Bethany Meadows has 66 assisted and independent living units and 28 garden homes, which are meant for retirees who lead a more active lifestyle.
Long-term care is expected to gain popularity among baby boomers as they age - The National Clearinghouse for Long-Term Care Information states that 70 percent of the demographic may need healthcare options in the future.
