California center marks National Assisted Living Week

Last week marked National Assisted Living Week, and according to the Lake Country Record-Bee, one California assisted living center had a much livelier celebration. The Orchard Park Assisted Living and Memory Care Community hosted a wine and cheese open house that saw more than 100 guests in attendance.

The event, which featured music, dancing, wine and delicious food, was meant to serve as a way to illustrate the importance of a reliable assisted living option for one's loved ones.

California center marks National Assisted Living Week Community relations director Kristy Weiss told the news source that the success of the party also helped allay the concerns of family members of the residents, as many throughly enjoyed themselves.

"It was such a beautiful party and I love a good party," 91-year-old Yaeko Gilman told the news provider. "I loved the band and the music and the wine."

Having reliable eldercare at one's disposal can be a great advantage in the near future, as the older population is expected to rise in the next 20 years. According to the National Center for Assisted Living, more than 900,000 individuals currently reside in an assisted living setting.
