Retirement living seniors should focus on healthy lifestyle, not worry about the details

With the barrage of studies and conflicting health information that is often presented to us on a daily basis, retirement living seniors who are working to create a healthy lifestyle might find it difficult to tell fact from fiction.

However, health experts suggest that it's actually best for individuals to stop worrying about guidelines and instead focus on overall wellbeing, according to AARP.org.

Dr Susan Love, a renowned breast cancer surgeon, and Ali Domar, an assistant professor at Harvard Medical School, collaborated on a book titled Live a Little! Breaking The Rules Won't Break Your Health

Though the book is aimed particularly at women, it might benefit all active living seniors. Their advice centers on the fact that perfect health is unattainable, and that the stress that accompanies working toward that unattainable goal is often more detrimental than missing a run or indulging in a rich dessert, the news source reports.

For example, a study conducted by the American Psychological Association found that nearly half of all Americans eat unhealthy foods to manage stress, and 52 percent lose sleep over their anxieties.
