Covenant Woods has been serving the needs of seniors in the Richmond area for more than 130 years. Today, in the beautiful natural environment of our 86-acre campus in Hanover County, we provide an amenities-rich community with extensive programs and services that contribute to the health and independence of those who live here. Covenant Woods is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation led by a volunteer Board of Directors. The community has completed several expansions over the course of its history – most recently in 2014.
A park-like natural setting surrounds the apartments in The Manor and The Lodge and cottages in three different neighborhoods. Features of the campus include a 5-acre pond, a paved walking trail, extensive open spaces and large stands of trees.
Adding new measures of ease and security to your life while still being able to be who you are and do what you want – that is the essence of Independent Living at Covenant Woods. You have so much to gain by living here. Freedom from home maintenance. One-floor living. A variety of cottage and apartment options. Extensive dining choices. When you travel, just pull the door closed. Opportunities abound for you to be as active in mind and body as you wish. Staying healthy is easier here. So is making new friends.
Living independently is a good reason for living at Covenant Woods. Living life fully is another. Whether you’re enjoying a musical performance or a painting class, strolling a nature trail, casting a line in a pond, listening to an interesting lecture or joining friends for an off-campus event, you won’t run out of things to do. Having choices is always in the nature of things here.
When you choose to live at Covenant Woods, you may also choose a Life Care contract that assures access to Assisted Living, Health Care and Memory Support services should your care needs change in the future. In addition, Life Care provides financial predictability since those levels of care are provided without substantial increases in monthly fees. If you have long-term care insurance or choose not to select Life Care, fee-for-service plans are another option. Also of great importance is the fact that this continuum of care is provided in our Manor East building, which is directly connected to The Manor, The Lodge and their many amenities.
