North Carolina builds new assisted living community

North Carolina will soon be getting a new home for seniors.

As reported by the South Charlotte News, the Charlotte assisted living community, called the Brightmore of South Charlotte, will be 230,000 square feet on almost 18 acres, and will feature an array of senior housing options, ranging from assisted living, independent living, as well as skilled nursing units.

Groundbreaking on the complex just happened, so it is expected to be completed in stages between late 2013 and late 2014, according to Jerry Cooper of Liberty Senior Living, the community’s developer.

Cooper told the newspaper that  the Brightmore of South Charlotte will house rental units, rather than the ownership option some communities feature.

At Brightmore, “you don’t have that large upfront buy-in or endowment,” Cooper said, and prices will be between $3,000 and $4,000.

Some of the amenities to be featured at the Brightmore include a fitness centre, a swimming pool, an indoor market, as well as a beauty salon. For food, there are many options, including a bistro, the main dining room, and even a place where residents can buy sandwiches.

The first part of the community, the skilled nursing complex, is expected to be completed in the fall of 2013, and the independent and assisted living complexes will be finished a year later, Cooper said.
