Iowa welcomes new retirement community

A new retirement community is being built in Iowa, and it promises to be beautiful. Sunrise Retirement Community, a large builder of senior housing, is constructing a new center in the city of Sioux City, as reported recently in the Sioux City Journal newspaper.

The new building will feature apartments across the continuum of care, including assisted living units, long-term skilled nursing care, as well as a few rooms specifically for seniors who need shorter-term rehabilitation stays.

“We try to manage people's care to keep them independent as long as we can,” the community’s executive director Beverly Zenor told the news source. “The new health center will allow us to do this better.”

Some of the amenities which will be featured inside the new complex include a juice bar, an indoor/outdoor garden pavilion, a library, as well as a communal kitchen where residents can have family and friends as guests. There will also be a beauty parlor and a barber shop.

Sioux City is located on the Iowa/Nebraska border, and is the fourth largest city in Iowa, with a population of about 80,000.

The new retirement community is being built in place of an existing facility, currently named ‘The Manor.’
